Local meetup of area widows and widowers. All ages are welcome though my main purpose is to have a place for younger widows and widowers to meet people. Yes, us in our 50s and 60s qualify as young, too!

From this group I would hope we would find new friends as only those who have lost a spouse or significant other can relate to what it is like to lose a spouse and have your life changed in the blink of an eye.

We would gather for dinner on a regular basis spending time to talk and share, rant and rave. To exchange ideas on how to start life over again at an early age.

We can gather together for fun activities as we are learning to venture out in the world again but now find ourselves alone so things such as going to a movie or a theater show has become a thing of the past.

We could also do other activities as we find what needs we have in the group, for instance, if children are involved this could be a place for young "only" parents to get to know one another, exchange ideas, have activities for the children and for the children to be with other children who have lost a parent.

I believe from this small group there could be all kinds of possibilities.

Welcome, Virgina. I am sorry if it has taken me a while to respond. I have been on vacation out of the country with no Internet access. I understand exactly what you mean as do the rest of us and it is why we are here. It has taken me over three years but finally I seem to have a life again. Until a few months ago I really wasn't quite sure what my purpose in life was or why I was even still here. No, not suicidal, just had no idea how to start over again and have a life. Gigi

So sorry you didn't make it, Villette. Our monthly dinners are usually always the first Saturday. In July I will move it to the second Saturday since the first one is over the July 4th weekend. Hope to see you there. Gigi

Tiffany.. You're so young and so are you're children. I'm so sorry you and you're family have to experience this loss at such a young age. I guess no matter what age, loss of a loved one hurts the same. I'm glad you found this site, we're all here to help one another.

I also have two grown sons, 2 grandsons, age 3 & 2, 1 granddaughter, age 3 and one more grandson due the first of November. I wish we'd have a meetup closer to me too. I live in Deer Park and I'm not too use to driving in Houston. Hopefully soon I'll get to one of the dinners and get to meet you. I'm finding out it's very hard to start a new life. Losing my husband feels like part of me is gone and I have no idea how to get that part of me back. Just take one day at a time!
